The Little Old Lady Who Was Not Afraid of Anything

By Linda Williams, illustrated by Megan Lloyd

This is an older tale about women that sets off into the forest to look for herbs. On her journey back home she encounter multiple animated parts of a what appears to be a man of some sort. She sees gloves clap, shoes clomp and hat that nods among other things. All these segments are vying for her attention trying to scare her. At each interlude she reaffirms to herself that she is not afraid until she ends up running home and locking the door behind her. At the end , she faces her fear and works out a deal that benefits both herself and the items on the road.

Although this has a happy ending, it may be too scary for infants.

I have one issue with this book. I know it was written at a different time, but the phrase “Old Lady” makes me cringe.
