What Makes a Rainbow?

What Makes a Rainbow?

By Betty Schwartz Illustrated by Dona Turner

This is a ribbon book about colors. It begins with a Little Rabbit asking Mama Rabbit what makes a rainbow.  With the help of his animal friends, Littles Rabbit explores the different colors of the rainbow.  The illustrations on each page are dedicated to one color and that color ribbon appear at the top of the page to form the rainbow. With every page turn, another colorful ribbon is added to the rainbow until the rainbow is complete.

The organization of this books works for infants. Each page is brightly infused in one color. Because the colors do not have to compete with the other colors, children are able to focus on that specific color. This layout helps better define that color to the younger kids.

I started reading this to my daughter before she was one. You will have to watch out for little hands that could grab the ribbon and pull the book apart.
